Information about the project:
The Basque Center on Cognition Brain and Language (BCBL) in San Sebasti?n (Basque Country, Spain) is offering a 4-year funded PhD opportunity. The position is linked to the project named Growing up Bilingual: Neural Maturation and Language Exposure as Predictors of Individual Dual-Language Proficiency . This project is a large-scale longitudinal investigation into the neurobiological and environmental predictors of language development in monolingual and bilingual infants and children from 0 to 2 years of age. We employ neurophysiological (i.e., electroencephalography) and behavioral methods to measure infants? early neural responses to linguistic stimuli and the development of early speech perception and lexical skills. In addition, we use wearable technology to collect detailed information about the language environments experienced by infants who grow up acquiring one or more than one language. The PhD candidate will have the opportunity to access the longitudinal sample and datas
et as well as to expand the scope of the longitudinal project.

Job description:
The successful candidate will be involved in developing and running behavioral and neuroimaging experiments with young infants, analyzing data, and disseminating the results in scientific conferences (presentations/posters) and peer-reviewed journals. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to develop original experiments under the supervision and guidance of the PI and in collaboration with the ?Infant Language and Cognition? research team including postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.PI and research group:

The successful candidate will join the BCBL Infant Language and Cognition group (https://www.bcbl.eu/en/research/research-groups/infant-language-cognition) led by Dr. Marina Kalashnikova (m.kalashnikova@bcbl.eu), who will also be their main supervisor.2.

Required skills:  * Applicants should have a Master?s (or equivalent) degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Linguistics, and/or related areas. Studies in progress should be completed before the specified start date for this project.
* Applicants should demonstrate a basic understanding of the field of early language development (e.g., completion of relevant coursework at the undergraduate or graduate levels).
* Applicants must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English.Desirable skills:  * Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque (or willingness to learn some during the program) is desirable.
* Experience with data collection and data analysis using neurophysiological and/or neuroimaging research methods, in particular electroencephalography (EEG), with infants and/or young children.
* Familiarity with statistical analyses.3. WORKING CONDITIONS
